Wedding Day Logistics

The ceremony will be held at Balliol College Chapel. Please report to the Porters' Lodge at the front gate (on Broad Street) of Balliol College, and you will be directed to the Chapel. The ceremony will be followed by a drinks reception in the Fellows' Garden. The reception will be held at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, a 7 minute walk from Balliol College. Please turn left out of Balliol College, continue along Broad Street until you get to the King's Arms Pub. Turn left again and continue down Parks Road until you see the museum on your right. Transport will be arranged for those who need it, please get in touch and we can ensure you're included in arrangements.

Transport

Oxford is a small, walking city. We recommend booking accommodation within the city centre to make the most of the walkability of the wedding venues (more information on hotels can be found on the 'Accommodation' page). There is limited car parking and a newly introduced daily 'congestion charge' for vehicles entering the city centre. If possible, we would recommend arranging alternative transport for the wedding weekend. Oxford train station is a short (15 minute) walk from Oxford city centre, and there is also a central coach station. There are Park and Ride options, with additional information on car parking below. There are a number of taxi companies operating in Oxford, we recommend 001 Cars (01865 240000).

Parking

If you are travelling by car, city centre parking is available from £40.00 per 24 hours at the locations listed below: 1. Gloucester Green - OX1 2BX2. Westgate Car Park - OX1 1TS3. Oxford Train Station - OX1 1RX4. Worcester Street - OX1 2BQ Alternatively, you can use one of Oxford's Park and Ride facilities: 1. Oxford Parkway Park and Ride - OX2 8HA2. Pear Tree Park and Ride - OX2 8JZ3. Seacourt Park and Ride - OX2 0HP4. Redbridge Park and Ride - OX1 4XG5. Thornhill Park and Ride - OX3 8DP All Park and Ride sites are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and vehicles can be left for a maximum of 72 hours. Parking starts from £4.50 per 24 hours. Punting logistics

We have booked a group of self-punts for Sunday 6th September. For those able to join, please arrive at the Magdalen Bridge Boat House for 1pm sharp. Children and babies are welcome, with life vests available. After punting we will be heading to the pub for some well-deserved pints!

Old Parsonage Hotel

Distance - 4 mins walk from Balliol College, 12 mins walk from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Price - from £300 per night. Parking - there is no hotel parking at Vanbrugh House.

Vanbrugh House Hotel

Distance - 10 mins walk from Balliol College, 18 mins walk from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Price - from £250 per night. Parking - there is a small hotel car park, but you must call to reserve a space in advance.

Distance - 11 mins walk from Balliol College, 19 mins walk from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Price - from £190 per night. Parking - there is no hotel car park, but the hotel is located at Westgate shopping centre which has a large paid car park.

When in Oxford...

Oxford Colleges

Oxford University is made up of 39 main 'colleges', many of which are open to visitors (some will charge a small fee). In particular, you might want to explore Christ Church or New College if you're a fan of Harry Potter!

University buildings

There are a number of University buildings to visit, including the Bodleian Library, Sheldonian Theatre and Radcliffe Camera.

Museums

There are a few museums in Oxford, including the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean - hopefully you'll have enough time to explore the Natural History Museum on Saturday night!

Oxford castle

Oxford Castle is the oldest non-religious building in Oxford, and open to the public. You can climb the Castle Tower and enjoy panoramic views over Oxford.

walking route 

We've put together a short circular walking tour, beginning and ending on Broad Street. The walk is approximately 30 minutes, unless you're planning on stopping and enjoying any of the sights.

1. Starting on Broad Street you can make a quick stop at the White Horse - the smallest pub in Oxford, and where Sarah and Mike first met! 2. Opposite the White Horse pub you will see the Bodleian Library, the main research library for the University and open to the public. 3. With the Bodleian Library on your right, continue down Broad Street and turn right onto Catte Street. On your left is New College Lane where you will see Oxford's Bridge of Sighs. 4. Continue down Catte Street until you reach the Radcliffe Camera - a University library, and the most recognisable landmark in Oxford. 5. Opposite the Radcliffe Camera, also on Catte Street, you will see All Souls College. The college is usually open to visitors, so worth seeing if you can pop your head in. 6. Continuing down Catte Street you will come to the High Street. Turn right and immediately on the corner you will see the University Church of St Mary. 7. With the Church on your right, continue down the High Street. You will eventually see the entrance to the Covered Market on your right. 8. Leave the Covered Market, and continue down the High Street. Turn right onto Cornmarket Street, and continue straight. At the crossroads keep going straight down Magdalen Street, continuing as it becomes St Giles'. Eventually you will reach the Eagle and Child pub where J.R.R. Tolkein wrote the Lord of the Rings books! 9. Leaving the Eagle and Child, cross the road and head up St Giles' back towards Broad Street. On your left you will see St. John's College, often open to visitors. 10. Continue along St Giles' and then turn left back onto Broad Street. Walk past Balliol College and you will see Trinity College next door. Consider having a wander round Trinity if it is open to visitors (alternatively, head back to the White Horse for a final pint).
